This tool is for preliminary sizing. Final design must be verified with material tests, the relevant standards and equipment manufacturer data.
Formulas
- Volumetric capacity
- Q = 60 · π/4 · (D² − d²) · S · n · φ · C [m³/h]
- Transport power
- P_H = Q_m · L · λ / 367 [kW]
- No-load power
- P_N = D · L / 20 [kW]
- Lift power
- P_St = Q_m · H / 367 [kW]
Note
Trough loading and the λ factor are chosen according to the material’s flow and abrasiveness; the listed values are typical starting points. Above 20° incline, capacity drops quickly and a vertical screw conveyor calculation is needed.
